For a lawn on a well-drained even sandy ground.
If you ground is sloped and/or waterlogged consider getting a drainage systemOctober
- If grass blade has reached 3 cm high, give it a light roll.
- Brush up fallen leaves, other debris, and worm cast away.
- Keep off lawn in wet and/or frozen conditions. To prevent rutting use boards when wheeling heavy loads across the lawn.
- Check drainage, remove leaves and debris, and aerate if ground is not saturated. Keep off the turf that is still frozen or waterlogged to prevent damage.
- If weather is dry cultivate seed beds and add top dressings and fertilizer.
- Re-seed any worn areas, repair edges, carry out restoration work and give first cut to remove tops of grass leaves only. Check out for pests and diseases and treat if necessary.
- Roll to firm seedlings (if required), and mow twice a week( if necessary).
- Apply high nitrogen fertilizer and mow regularly with lowered blades at summer level.
- If weather gets dry in raise blades as you continue mowing( as necessary), also rake lawn before mowing to control clover. Spike the lawn to allow airflow and encourage healthy root growth. If required apply summer fertilizer. Through out the summer months apply fungicide and weedkiller if necessary.
- Water regularly if weather is dry and aerate surface ( spike or slit areas where use is greater).
- Check areas where renovation is needed.
